New Delhi, Feb 26: The Union Cabinet approved the nationwide roll-out of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on Saturday with a budget of Rs 1,600 crore over five years.
The central sector system will be implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA).
Citizens will be able to create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account numbers, which will be connected to their digital health information, according to the announcement.
According to the statement, this will allow for the establishment of longitudinal health records for individuals and improve clinical decision-making by healthcare providers.
It will increase fair access to high-quality healthcare by encouraging the use of technologies like telemedicine and allowing health services to be transported across national borders.
Over the years, digital health solutions have proven to be extremely beneficial across the healthcare ecosystem, with CoWIN, Arogya Setu, and eSanjeevani proving the role that technology can play in providing access to healthcare. However, such solutions must be integrated for continuity of care and efficient resource utilisation, according to the statement.
