New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has asked the states for the data of deaths due to lack of oxygen. A letter has also been written by the Centre to the states in this regard. Sources say that this data will be collected and presented in the monsoon session of Parliament ending on August 13. Significantly, during the second wave of Corona in the country, the central government had to face criticism from the opposition parties for its reply given during the monsoon session of Parliament that no figures of deaths due to lack of oxygen were received from the states. Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and other opposition parties had targeted the government on this issue.
Number of deaths due to lack of oxygen summoned
In fact, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Minister of State for Health, Bharti Praveen Pawar had said that health is a state subject and the states regularly inform the central government about corona cases and deaths. But the states have not given any specific data to the central government regarding the lack of oxygen. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told Parliament that the Prime Minister has been continuously asking the states to register the deaths due to corona, there is no reason to hide. It is the responsibility of the states. We compile the data provided by the states. This is what the central government has to do.
