Kaushambi, Sept 15: In the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, three family members were allegedly shot to death over a land dispute, a top police official stated on Friday.
Two individuals have been arrested by the police in connection with the case, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against them at the Sandeepan Ghat Police Station, police said.
They were sleeping outside their home when unidentified assailants shot and killed the deceased, identified as Hori Lal, 62, his daughter Brijkali, 22, and son-in-law Shiv Sagar, 26.
According to police, after word of the triple homicide spread, a mob of enraged residents set many of the nearby huts on fire.
To keep things lawful and orderly, a police contingent was sent to the area.
Police stated that four people were named as suspects during the preliminary investigation and that numerous teams had been assembled to find them.
The police were alerted to the incident at 6:15 am on Friday morning. Upon receiving this information, fire brigade units were dispatched to the location.
Earlier, Brijesh Srivastava, Superintendent of Police, Kaushambi, said, “The names of four people have come out as the accused. They are absconding. We are in search of them. We are collecting all the information.”
“The deceased include a man, his daughter and son-in-law. They were sleeping outside their home when the incident happened. They had conducted an exercise to measure land some days ago,” the police official said.
“Many huts in the village have been set on fire,” he said.
“The fire has been brought under control. The situation is under control,” the official said.
