Jamshedpur, Oct 27: Jharkhand’s Urban Development Deputy Secretary on Friday instructed the Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner to do inquiry into a upcoming residential complex in the Adityapur industrial area.
The inquiry order by the Urban Development department followed a petition submitted by a local RTI activist Surendra Kumar Mahto in September.
The residential complex in question is being developed by Ashiana Housing Ltd at Adityapur industrial area’s phase-IV along the Tata-Kandra four-lane.
Christened as “Ashiyana Aditya” the residential complex is being set up on a plot of seven acres of rayati land close to the industrial units. Though the land concerned is rayati (private land) the area comes under the Adityapur Industrial Development Authority (AIADA).
The housing company had tried to set up the project in 2005, but the then authority of AIADA had turned down the application citing the reason that the residential units can’t be permitted close to the industrial units.
But the company has started the construction of the proposed residential complex. The RTI activist had wanted to know how could the AIADA or for that matter the Adityapur Municipal Corporation give the company the necessary permission once the application for the same project was rejected 18 years ago.
The RTI activist had also written to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary. In fact, the Transport Minister Champai Soren had also taken initiative to stop the construction as he felt there was something fishy behind the construction work for the residential complex in the industrial area.
