US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for deeper cooperation between the US and India on economic fronts. Addressing the virtual summit on Wednesday, organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), the top democratic leader discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries, working with Quad members, fighting terrorism and strengthening economic ties.
“America is a whole lot better off because of the long strong and crucial friendship between India and the United States, I’m going to find ways for Congress to continue promoting our two countries’ mutual defense, including working with QUAD members,” the top Democrat leader said in his address.
Giving reference to the 9/11 and 26/11 attacks, he also said that the US and India have always supported each other in the battle against terrorism.
On the other hand, Piyush Goyal, Union Commerce and Industry Minister said that India and US must be looking at a trillion dollar trade in the next 10 years. In his address, he also highlighted that supply chains should not be based only on cost but also on trust. He said that the effort is to make India produce high-quality products at competitive prices in areas of strength to become a larger player in global markets.
