New Delhi, May 5: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will contest the upcoming bye election from Champawat.
MLA Kailash Gehtori of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resigned from the Champawat Assembly seat, allowing Dhami to run in the assembly by-polls. Notably, in the February elections, Dhami was defeated in the Khatima constituency.
Earlier, the schedule for by-elections in three assembly constituencies in Odisha, Kerala, and Uttarakhand was released by the Election Commission on Monday.
Brajarajnagar in Odisha, Thrikkakara in Kerala, and Champawat in Uttarakhand are the three constituencies. According to the Election Commission, voting in these seats will take place on May 31, with the results being announced on June 3.
