Daltonganj, Nov. 20: Covid-19 vaccination teams in Latehar district are out for the vaccination drive even during the Maoists bandh today.
Sources said that the extremists of all hues have no problem with the Covid-19 vaccination and their cadres do not throw any spanner in it as it is a great public health concern.
The vaccination teams have stepped even on lands which are considered dangerous but no report of any hindrance has been coming from the extremists. Medical facility, press and delivery of milk and other essential services remain out of the ambit of the bandh of the naxals, said sources.
A team of two lady health personnel namely Neyami Sushanta Gidh (ANM) and Sahiya Sandhya Bhakhla reached a remote site at Dal Chua Loharsi today under the community health centre at Chandwa, said the medical officer in charge Dr N K Pandey.
“There are many remote and hard to reach areas in the Chandwa community health centre like Chatu Aag, Loharsi, Boda, Kita etc where our ANMs and Sahiyas have been to the vaccinations,” he said.
He further said that the final figure of the vaccinations of the day will be available only this evening.
Civil surgeon Latehar, Dr Haren Chandra Mahto, and one health official Ved Prakash too went out of Latehar to supervise the vaccination in Barwadih range.
The CS said that he held a meeting on Friday and had charted out inspections of some vaccination sites today.
Medical officer in-charge of the community health entre Barwadeeh, Dr. Ashish Ranjan said, “We have put 21 vaccination teams today instead of 18 just to accelerate the vaccination drive.”
Dr. Ranjan also said hard to reach areas are not only difficult to reach but here there is another problem of zero internet facility. Online registration for vaccination is almost impossible in the hard to reach areas where ANMs and Sahiyas have been advised to take names of the beneficiaries offline.
