RAJESH KUMAR PANDEY
Dumka, Nov.20: The main accused of the honour killing of a 22 years old youth, Vivek Kumar Sah, who was beaten to death in full public view on November 15 by the father and uncle of the minor girl he was allegedly having affair with, has finally been re-arrested on Saturday.
Meghu Gorain of Sarua village under Mufassil police station of the district is the uncle of the minor girl in question. He was earlier taken into custody by the town police on the evening of the beating incident. The youth was beaten up with bricks and other lethal items and was rushed to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on the same night.
Since the place of incident falls under the limit of Mufassil police station, the town police station handed over Meghu Gorain to them. He was then released under mysterious circumstances thereby putting a question mark on the conduct of Mufassil police.
Another accused, the father of the minor girl who together with his younger brother had beaten up her lover black and blue and forcibly poisoned him, however, was arrested a couple of days after the death of Vivek.
Relatives of the deceased and common residents accused the police of freeing Meghu Gorain who has now been forwarded to jail on Saturday.
Different social organisations had come forward to blame the Mufassil police station for freeing Meghu Gorain who is viewed mercilessly beating up Vivek in a video footage that had gone viral in social media.
However, no action against the police officials of the Mufassil police station for freeing Meghu Gorain have so far been taken by the senior police officers thereby putting the entire policing system of the district on the dock.
