Veer Bal Diwas: PM Modi Remembers Sahibzadas’ Supreme Sacrifice

New Delhi: On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas on December 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas, recalling their martyrdom and timeless values that continue to inspire generations.

Nation Observes Veer Bal Diwas

Veer Bal Diwas is observed every year on December 26 to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the four sons of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The day commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, who laid down their lives defending righteousness and religious freedom.

PM Modi’s Message on Sacrifice and Faith

In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi remembered the extraordinary sacrifice of the Sahibzadas and highlighted the steadfast faith of Mata Gujri and the immortal teachings of Guru Gobind Singh. He said Veer Bal Diwas symbolizes courage, determination, and devotion to dharma, and the ideals of the Sahibzadas will continue to guide future generations.

Honouring Children With National Awards

On the same day, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Prime Minister’s National Child Award on 20 children from 18 states and Union Territories. Among the awardees was emerging international cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar, who was recognised for his achievements.

Historic Sacrifice of the Sahibzadas

Historically, Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh attained martyrdom while fighting the Mughal army in the Battle of Chamkaur in 1705. The younger Sahibzadas, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, were brutally executed in Sirhind for refusing to renounce their faith, while Mata Gujri sacrificed her life amid this immense grief. Their sacrifice remains a powerful symbol of faith, resilience, and moral strength.
