New Delhi, Feb 11: Responding to the discussion on budget in the Rajya Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that government went it for a budget which will be bring in stability to the economy and predictability in taxation.

“We went in for a Budget which would stand for continuity, which will be bringing in stability to the economy and predictability in taxation and also a vision for India at 100,” Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in Rajya Sabha.

“Guidance which comes from PM Gati Shakti was essential as we needed to bring in greater synergy, greater complementarity between various infrastructure spending that we’re undertaking,” She added.

Attacking the opposition she said, “Coming 25 years are going to be important for India. If we don’t have a vision for India at 100, we’ll suffer similarly as first 70 years, when 65 years were with Congress that had no vision except supporting, building and benefiting one family.”

CPI inflation of that time (before BJP) was 9.1%, for a reduction of only Rs 2.12 lakh crores. Global financial crisis hit us. But when pandemic hit us, loss to GDP was 9.57% &our management of inflation was such that it was only 6.2%. Opposition couldn't handle lesser crisis: FM pic.twitter.com/V2tGrBHEH2

“Guidance from PM Gati Shakti was essential as we needed to bring in greater synergy, greater complementarity between various infrastructure spending that we are undertaking because it is not to say that infrastructure spending never happened in this country,” the Finance Minister said, explaining that the government’s vision in Budget 2022 was to improve infrastructure.
