Jamshedpur, Sept 21: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre in a bulletin issued today predicted widespread rain in western and north-eastern Jharkhand.
Weathermen said today’s rainfall activity would help in reducing the state’s rain deficit figure which currently stands at 33 per cent.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected at a few isolated places in western and north-eastern Jharkhand today.
The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.
It is likely to move northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next two days.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Ratlam, Siddhi, Ranchi, Digha, the centre of Low-Pressure Area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was witnessed at many places over the state during the past 24 hours with monsoon activity being normal over the state.
