Jamshedpur, May 7: Police today arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife at Turiabera under MGM thana area of the steel city.
The assailant Kedar Gorai along with his mother had killed his wife Mamuni and had hanged it from a wooden beam to make it a case of suicide on Friday afternoon.
But suspicion raised by the victim’s family members and information fed by the neighbours led the police investigate the case and ultimately arrested Gorai today.
The OC, MGM thana, Mithilesh Kumar Singh said Kedar Gorai’s mother is also equally responsible for her daughter-in-law’s murder and she would also be arrested soon.
“From the investigation, it was found that Mamuni who was just 21-year-old and mother of a five-year-old baby girl was killed only because she would oppose the husband’s habit of drinking excessive liquor, ” said Singh.
The OC said like other days on Friday also Kedar had consumed liquor in the day having evaded to go to his workplace. On finding him drunk, the wife had shouted at him, causing Kedar and his mother get furious at her.
“Out of rage, both Kedar and his mother thrashed the young woman mercilessly until she did fall down motionless. When the two got it confirmed that Mamuni is dead, they hanged the body by tying it with a rope in the afternoon. Then only the accused had informed the victim’s family members in adjoining Kapali area that she committed suicide, ” said the OC.
The OC said they had sent the body to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem the report of which is yet to come. He said Gorai was arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence following a complaint lodged by Mamuni’s mother Parvati Devi,
