Ranchi, April 26: Speeding auto-rickshaws are posing threat to the lives of common people. A 30-year-old lady, Tara Devi, died on Tuesday after a speeding auto-rickshaw knocked her over.
The primary investigation suggested that she was a beggar and was on her way to the place where she used to sit as a matter of routine when the auto-rickshaw knocked her and escaped.
Officer in charge of Lower Bazar police station Sanjay Kumar confirmed the incident saying “auto rickshaw involved in the accident is yet to be traced.”
A locality resident said if the ambulance had come on time the lady could have been saved. “Ambulance reached after golden hour ended and thus when she reached RIMS doctor declared her dead,” the resident said.
Speeding auto-rickshaws have always been a matter of concern. On July 28, an auto-rickshaw knocked Judge Uttam Anand to death when he was out on a morning walk outside the Magistrate Colony near Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad. The matter is still being probed by the CBI.
Apart from this, cases of accidents due to speeding auto-rickshaws often keep on coming.
