After winning the toss, India’s Mithali Raj invited the hosts to bat, and they responded with a solid score of 260/9 in 50 overs.

After Suzie Bates (5) and captain Sophie Devine (35) were bowled cheaply, Amy Satterthwaite made an outstanding 75, while Amelia Kerr also got a 64-ball 50 as the two built a 77-run stand for the third wicket.

Following the dismissal of Satterthwaite, Katey Martin (41) also played a great innings to help New Zealand to a strong score.

Pooja Vastrakar bowled a fantastic stint for India, finishing with 4/34, while Jhulan Goswami took Martin’s record-equaling wicket. Deepti Sharma (1/52) and Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2/46) were also among the wickets.

India, on the other hand, never looked confident in their run chase after losing Smriti Mandhana (6) and Deepti Sharma (5) early on. Yastika Bhatia, who took over at the top of the order from Shafali Verma, was also removed for 28, while Mithali Raj was dismissed for 31 by Amelia Kerr.
