Ranchi, Nov 5: The Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi commemorated the Silver Jubilee reunion of its Rural Development, class of 1995-1997 to enjoy campus life and revive their beautiful memories on Saturday.
A total of 22 alumni attended the event at their alma mater to network themselves and reconnect with each other, especially with the graduates and to encourage mutual support and interaction between the institution and its graduates.
Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur, Director XISS, reminded about the assistance sought by this batch to the students either physically or virtually and to guide them throughout the year for facing recruiters, personality development, and corporate connect.
Further, Dr Pradeep Kerketta, Assistant Director, XISS welcomed the alumni and said, “It is a very hearty welcome to one and all to come and cherish their past. Each one of you is a true reflection and source of inspiration for XISS at this time when Jesuit values of being ethical are needed the most in the development sector.”
In his address, Dr Amar E. Tigga, Dean of Academics, XISS, welcomed the alumni and stated, “The alumni of the university represent the past”, and mentioned the recent accreditation of NBA and to strengthen the bond between XISS and the esteemed alumni.
Head Rural Management Programme, Dr Anant Kumar ascertained that whatever the institute is, is because of its alumni. In the programme further, the alumni shared memories of their time at the institute and reminisced about their journey since then.
The highlight of the event was the “Saibal Baroi Scholarship Announcement” worth Rs 25,000 annually which was to honour the Late Saibal Baroi, an alumnus of RD 95-97 by his batch mates which was followed by the felicitation of the silver jubilee batch.
A series of cultural events including a Tribal dance on the theme ‘Feel of Jharkhand’ along with a skit ‘Safarnama’, a group dance on ‘Join the Steps’ and a group song ‘Hit the beat’ was performed by the current students.
The event was attended by all the Heads of Programmes, Faculty, and students of Rural Management.
