LUCKNOW: In the midst of the controversy surrounding priest Yati Narsinghanand’s contentious remarks against Prophet Muhammad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a stern warning, stating that derogatory comments about religious figures of any faith will not be tolerated. Adityanath stressed that all sects and religions must respect each other, warning that anyone who violates these principles will face strict legal consequences.

The chief minister’s remarks come as the state braces for upcoming festivals, where maintaining communal harmony and law and order is a top priority.

“If any person tampers with faith, makes derogatory remarks against the faith of great men, deities, sects, etc., they will be punished rigorously under the law,” Adityanath stated during a law and order review meeting with senior officials, including the chief secretary and the Director General of Police.

He also warned that any anarchy, vandalism, or arson in the name of protests will not be tolerated, and those responsible will have to pay the price for their actions.

Yati Narsinghanand’s ‘Prophet Muhammad’ Remark Row

Yati Narsinghanand, a priest from Ghaziabad, has stirred controversy once again after making objectionable remarks about Prophet Muhammad. An FIR has been lodged against him, although the UP police have yet to confirm reports that he has been detained. Narsinghanand, known for his controversial statements, has faced backlash from various quarters, with several Muslim organizations and political parties, including the BSP, National Conference, and Samajwadi Party, demanding his immediate arrest.

Adityanath Reviews Law and Order Amid Festivals

During the law and order review, Adityanath directed the police to ensure that the upcoming festivals are celebrated peacefully. He ordered strict action against those trying to disrupt harmony. “Identify those who spoil the atmosphere and take strict action against them. Deal strictly with those who work against the law,” the chief minister instructed.

He also highlighted the need for increased patrolling to ensure women’s safety across the state, directing police response teams to be available in crowded areas at all times.
