Hazaribag, Aug 3: In a case related to the murder of a 45-year-old woman Munia Devi, Katkamdag police have received a shot in the arm by arresting the murderer who is a 17-year-old youth from the same village. Munia’s body was found near her house in the Kud area of town with her head bludgeoned with some bricks. Police arrested the minor boy and sent him to juvenile judicial custody on Tuesday. During interrogation, he confessed to having killed the woman.
Police officials today said that there was a dispute with the woman over some issue while drinking alcohol on that day. This angered the arrested youth who bludgeoned her to death.
This murder sparked panic in the area with people started targeting the police for deteriorating law and order. They alleged that woman was raped and murdered. Police officials said the woman’s post-mortem was done by a three-member medical team in the presence of Katkamdag BDO Shalini Khalkho as a magistrate. The three-member team included Dr Amarendra Sinha, Dr Ajay Bhengra and Dr Chanchal Gupta. On the day of the incident, she was returning home at around 10 pm after attending the Chhathi festival in the adjacent house.
Katkamdag police station officer-in-charge Dhananjay Prajapati said that the youth and the woman were drinking together. During this, the dispute between the two increased regarding something. In this anger, the youth killed the woman.
