Jamshedpur, April 1: The body of a 32-year-old youth was found lying under the canopy of a bush behind a polytechnic institute under Kapali thana outpost near Mango on Friday morning.
Identified as Mohammad Afroz, the deceased was bludgeoned to death by unknown assailants sometime during the night as there were marks of grievous injury in the head and chest beside other parts of the body.
After getting the body identified, the police shifted the body to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
The body was found lying in a bush behind the Al Kabir Polytechnic Institute close to densely-populated Azadnagar in Mango in the morning.
OC of the Kapali thana outpost Satish Kumar said the assailants hit the victim with boulders at his head and chest, causing him to die on the spot.
“The victim was a resident of Dangerdih in Kapali and was missing from his house since Thursday evening. In the morning, his bludgeoned body was found in a bush behind the Al Kabir Polytechnic Institute, about one kms away from his house, ” said Kumar while talking to the newsmen.
The OC said Afroz’s mother had given a statement in which she has stated that the murder victim was a drug addict and that he was unmarried.
According to the police, though the victim was a drug addict he had no enmity with anyone as such, leading the police to be incomplete dark about the assailants.
Significantly, though the crime scene falls under the Kapali thana outpost in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, senior police officers from Seraikela have begun a probe into the ghastly murder of the youth in cooperation with the Mango police.
