Koderma, July 21: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old youth jumped in front of a train at Parsabad railway station after his mother scolded him for his habit of smoking. The youth was identified as Niranjan Kumar Das, a resident of Chaupnadih village under the Markachcho police station area.

Sources said Niranjan was a chain smoker and this is the reason why he was facing many health-related problems. Married a year back, he was undergoing treatment in Dhanbad and so his mother Geeta Mosomat was taking care of him as well as not allowing him to smoke.

On Thursday, Niranjan was to go to Dhanbad for a routine checkup. He was with her mother Geeta to catch the Asansol MU train and so waiting at Parsabad station. In between, he moved away from his mother and started smoking.

As Geeta saw him smoking, she lost her cool and scolded him. She said his treatment was going on and despite this, he was continuing with the bad habit of smoking.

Scolding disappointed Niranjan who all of a sudden pushed his mother who was holding his hand. Niranjan jumped on the track from where an intercity express train was passing. He jumped in front of the engine of the train resulting in his on spot death. For Geeta, it was a big shock as her son died in front of her.

On getting the information, RPF officials and jawans reached there and took the body in their possession. Later, it was sent for postmortem to Koderma Sadar Hospital. Officials said what happened is beyond the imagination of anyone. “We have lodged a case of unnatural death in this regard,” they added.
