Dhanbad, Feb 24: The bodies of a youth and a minor girl were found hanging from a tree in Mohanpur forest, under the Bengabad police station, around 16 kilometres from Giridih district headquarters on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Jyotish Kumar (20), son of Chand Pasi of Chhatabad village, and Rohini Kumari (17), daughter of Bijul Rajak of Motileda village under Bengabad police station.
Bengabad police station officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar said that both have been missing since Wednesday. The girl’s father searched for her all night and reported her missing to the police station this morning (Thursday).
According to the police officer, three women from the village had gone to the forest to collect wood when they discovered the bodies hanging from a tree. The police were notified, and bodies were hauled down.
SDPO Anil Kumar Singh and Inspector Kamlesh Paswan arrived at the scene to gather information. The event is being investigated, according to the SDPO.
According to the locals, both had a love affair in the past, which was opposed by both family members owing to inter-caste marriage.
