Zimbabwe began their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a dominant 8-wicket win over Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground, comfortably chasing a small target after a brilliant bowling performance.

Oman Bowled Out for 103 in 19.5 Overs

After winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bowl first and completely controlled the match. Oman were bundled out for 103 in 19.5 overs, with the top order collapsing early. At one stage, Oman were struggling at 27 for 5, putting them under heavy pressure.

Muzarabani, Ngarava and Evans Rip Through Batting Line-up

Zimbabwe’s bowlers delivered an outstanding spell. Blessing Muzarabani led the attack with 3 wickets for 16 runs and was named Player of the Match. Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans also picked up 3 wickets each, ensuring Oman never recovered.

Shukla and Mahmood Top-Score for Oman

For Oman, Vinayak Shukla scored 28 runs, Sufiyan Mahmood made 25, and Nadeem Khan contributed 20. No other batter managed to reach double figures, highlighting the overall batting failure.

Bennett’s 48 Powers Zimbabwe to Easy Chase

Chasing 104, Zimbabwe reached the target in just 13.3 overs, losing only 2 wickets. Opener Brian Bennett played the key knock, scoring 48 off 36 balls with 7 boundaries. Brendan Taylor scored 31 before retiring hurt, while Tadiwanashe Marumani added 21.

Zimbabwe Move to Top of Group B Points Table

With this win, Zimbabwe climbed to the top of the Group B points table, while Sri Lanka remained in second position.
