Ghatshila, July 30: The body of an unknown woman was recovered by the police on the culvert of a canal located in Dhobni village under Kalichiti Panchayat of Ghatshila police station area.

With the help of social worker Kali Ram Sharma, the police picked up the body from the canal and sent it to Sub-Divisional Hospital Ghatshila for post-mortem. The medical officer in charge of the subdivision hospital has sent the body to Jamshedpur MGM Hospital for postmortem suspecting foul play.

In this regard, SI Ghanshyam Koda of Ghatshila police station said that looking at the body, it seems that it must have drowned in the canal at least three-four days ago. The body is bloated and a foul smell is coming.

The villagers reported seeing the unknown woman floating in the water. No one has informed about the missing of any woman in the surrounding police station area. Prima facie, it is being speculated that the woman might have drowned while taking a bath.
