New Delhi, Aug 5: At least 13 people were killed and 40 were injured early on Friday when a fire ravaged a Thai nightclub, a rescue services spokesman said.

On Thursday, at about 1:00 a.m. (1800 GMT), a fire broke out inside the Mountain B nightclub in the Sattahip district of Chonburi province, about 150 km (90 miles) south of Bangkok, a representative of the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Rescue Foundation told AFP on the condition of anonymity.

As a massive fire rages in the backdrop, video footage shared by the rescue team shows panicked partygoers running out of the club while screaming and with their garments on fire.

According to the agency, flammable acoustic foam on the club walls intensified the fire, and it took firefighters more than three hours to put it out.

Four women and nine men were found dead, mostly crammed together at the door and in the restroom, with severely charred remains, according to the emergency services. It’s thought that all of the victims are Thai.
