20 Dead in Delhi Restaurant Fire, Several Foreigners Among Victims; PM Modi and CM Rekha Gupta Express Grief

New Delhi: A major fire broke out at Lemon Green restaurant in Malviya Nagar, Delhi on Wednesday morning, killing at least 20 people including foreign nationals, with several others in critical condition due to severe burns.

How the Fire Unfolded

Fire brigade received the alert at 9 am and dispatched 10 fire engines to the site. Firefighters rescued several people trapped in the building’s basement, who were subsequently hospitalised. In a desperate attempt to escape the blaze, several people jumped from the building and sustained injuries. The restaurant also had accommodation facilities where some foreign nationals were staying at the time of the fire.

Leaders Express Condolences

PM Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were among those who expressed grief over the tragedy. CM Rekha Gupta wrote on social media that she was deeply saddened by the heavy loss of life and property in the Malviya Nagar fire, conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
