Ramgarh, Nov 27: The 22nd Jharkhand Battalion under the command of Colonel Harmeet Singh, organised an NCC camp on Sunday to celebrate the 74th anniversary of NCC. A total of 500 cadets and 24 other officers and staff from different districts of Jharkhand participated in the event.
Notsbly, NCC was established in 1948 with the objective of preparing organised and motivated youth to serve the country by developing leadership potential in all areas of the nation. NCC played important roles in many battles (1962, 1965, and 1971).
Colonel Harmeet Singh, the Commanding Officer of the battalion, said that the NCC has extended full cooperation to the civil administration in dealing with the pandemic during COVID-19. Apart from this, the NCC has made unprecedented contributions to many social initiatives including the Cleanliness Campaign, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Fit India Movement, and the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan.
On the 74th anniversary, a 7 km marathon was organised with around 250 cadets, along with a Blood Donation Camp by Sadar Hospital, Ramgarh which saw around 40 cadets donate blood. On the occasion, some cadets spent time with special needs children of Omkar Mission and distributed sweets. Chancellor of Radha Govind University B N Sah and institute secretary and social worker Priyanka Kumari boosted their morale by awarding the cadets.
