Peshawar, March 4: At least 30 people died and more than 50 people were injured in a bomb explosion during Friday prayers at a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan.
According to Pakistan daily DAWN, officials said the blast occurred at a Jamia mosque in Qissa Khwani bazaar area when the worshippers were offering Friday prayers. Officials said the condition of the 10 injured is stated to be critical. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Ijaz Ahsan confirmed one police official was also martyred in the explosion.
According to the CCPO, two attackers attempted to enter the mosque in the city’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar and fired at the police officers on duty. The officer was martyred and the other was gravely injured as a result of the incident.
The blast took place following the attack.
