Ranchi, Sept 22: To reward the employees who have faced the challenges of COVID-19 hardship this time the PSUS and Private Companies in the city do not have so much in their bag to give to their employees in the name of bonuses.
Earlier these PSUs and private companies had something extra with them to provide to their employees for their hard work as a reward which they called bonus during festive seasons like Durga Puja and Diwali.
But this time PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) like MECON has no planning for Diwali. A Mecon official, requesting anonymity said that “we haven’t received any circular or notices yet but will get some bonus in Diwali”.
PSUs like HEC, SAIL, CCL are not thinking about their employees. According to them, they are financially weak; this pandemic has set down their business and their market condition. Earlier in the year like 2018 and 2019, they used to give bonuses to their employees for their hard work and achievements but this time the pandemic in these two years has destroyed their work, financial stability. This time they will think on Diwali what to do with the bonus. This festive season is going to be parched for the employees of these PSUs, he said.
However, private sector companies have some hope. While talking about the festive schemes of various private companies like –Havels, Bajaj, Anchor and Legrand, these companies provide a big bonus for their employees. One of the private company employees said that “Companies like Havels and Bajaj provide a huge bonus to their employees like shopping cards plus a bonus of more than Rs 35,000” on Diwali. And this time they are going to do the same. Every year companies like HPL, L&T, Schneider and Phillips provide bonuses of Rs 30,000 to 35,000 plus gift hampers to their employees and this year also they are going to do the same as last year they were unable to give any bonus to the employees. Covid has affected the market health of these companies while they are trying to fulfill the financial gaps made in one year due to the pandemic. One of the sources from the market said that “electrical companies like R.R.Kabil and C&S generally used to cut an amount of rupees from the employee’s salary on the name of bonus and they provide this money on Diwali as Diwali bonus, last year they didn’t get any bonus so this year they are hoping for some kind of bonus on Diwali.
