Ranchi, June 1: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission on May 31 released the results of the 7th to 10th JPSC CSE Examinations that were conducted for 252 posts. Savitri Kumari, a daughter of a grill gate worker was declared topper of the JPSC examination.
Savitri Kumari is the daughter of Rajeshwar Nayak alias Nepal, a resident of Bokaro district. Her father works as a grill gate maker. Despite this, the Kumari never gave up and overcame the difficult circumstances. Notably, Savitri received higher education through a scholarship and despite hardships she succeeded in the JPSC exam. Savitri has been selected for Jharkhand Administrative Service.
Savitri Kumari did her Matriculation from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Tenughat in 2008 with 86 percent marks and passed the 12th board in 2010 from the same school.
The then principal of her school DK Modi was impressed by Savitri and suggested she pursue education through a scholarship, knowing well her financial conditions. He also suggested that she go to the Asian University for Women of Chittagong, Bangladesh to complete B.Sc.
After completing she pursued her PG with the help of scholarship at Oxford University, London. During this, she also continued to do part-time jobs. Upon returning, Savitri chose to prepare for civil services after a suggestion from her father.
Savitri then went to Delhi for UPSC coaching for six-seven months. However, she returned to her village in 2020 and started preparing for UPSC and JPSC. She said, “I took the UPSC exams twice, but could not clear them. However, in my very first attempt, I succeeded in the JPSC examination. I am satisfied with my performance and thankful to have such a supportive family.”
It is noteworthy that Nayak, Savitri’s father, has a small shop to make grill gates (iron gates). He and his wife Chinta Devi have three daughters namely, Gayatri Kumari, Savitri Kumari and Savita Kumari. Even with a low income, Nayak tried to give a good education to his daughters. His other two daughters Gayatri Kumari and Savita Kumari have studied engineering.
In her message to the future aspirants, she said, “Women should not be afraid of dreaming. It helps them take the next step towards their goals.”
