Ranchi, Feb 10: With the dip in Covid cases in the state the sports activities at the Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon will start in a full-fledged manner from next week.
Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society, CEO UK Vidyarthi said that the sports students are being called in a phased manner where about 100 students have reached the complex. Sports activities have started inside the premises.
“As the students live in different parts of the state, we are working on calling all the students by the next week so that the sports activities get started in a full-fledged manner by the next week,” he said.
“Students who have arrived have started the practice and more students will join. During the lockdown, all the students went to their homes and now when the restrictions have been lifted by the state government, the practice will again get started in the complex,” he added
On the issue of Covid, the isolation centre is still working in the sports complex he said, “We have supported the government in isolating the patients infected by the coronavirus in the campus, but in the third phase no patient was being admitted here. At present, there are no patients in the sports complex and the isolation centre is separate from the place where the students will be living.”
The sports complex comprises a main multi-functional 35,000 capacity athletics stadium with an 8-lane Practice Track; three indoor stadiums, of 4,000 capacities each, a 2,000-capacity Tennis Centre, a 2,000-capacity Aquatic Centre; Kho-Kho and Kabaddi grounds and a shooting range. The state-of-the-art complex also includes two hostel blocks, an administrative building and a 24-meter high water tower.
