Mandar bypolls: Congress candidate Shilpi Neha Tirkey wins by over 23,000 votes

Ranchi, June 26: The Mandar assembly by-election results are out now. Congress candidate Shilpi Neha Tirkey has won the Mandar assembly seat. According to the election results, Shilpi Neha Tirkey has won Mandar assembly seat by defeating her nearest rival Gangotri Kujur of BJP by around 23 thousand votes.

However, the official announcement is yet to be made. According to the latest information, Congress candidate Shilpi Neha Tirkey has received a total of 94 thousand 484 votes. Meanwhile BJP candidate Gangotri Kujur had 71 thousand 202 votes. On the other hand, AIMIM candidate Dev Kumar Dhan was at number three.

Congress’s Tirkey has won the Mandar by-election with a big margin. Political pundits have claimed that the victory of the Grand Alliance. Earlier, the alliance has won three by-elections. Along with this, the number of women Congress MLAs in the assembly has gone up to five after her win. Notably, with this victory, Tirkey has become the youngest MLA in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.

Notably, after the termination of the membership of the former MLA of Mandar Assembly, Bandhu Tirkey, polls were held on June 23 over the Mandar seat. Even though there were 14 candidates trying, the main contest was between Congress’s Shilpi Neha Tirkey, BJP’s Gangotri Kujur and independent Dev Kumar Dhan.

In the polling held on June 23 for this seat, a total of two lakh 17 thousand voters had exercised their franchise to vote. Counting of votes was done at Pandara Bazar in Ranchi on Sunday.
