Hazaribagh: Pelawal police arrest two with 656 grams of brown sugar

Ramgarh, June 28: In a successful move towards curbing the drug trade in the district, Hazaribagh’s Pelawal Police have arrested two youths with 656 grams of brown sugar.

The Pelawal police were conducting a vehicle checking operation near the road leading to Rahmatnagar on the Katkamsandi-Hazaribagh main road.

DSP Rajiv Kumar, DSP (CCR) Arif Ikram said, “It was reported that two people involved in drug dealing are coming towards Hazaribagh in a four-wheeler. After verification of the information, vehicle checking was conducted. Meanwhile, a car reached the checking point and on seeing the police force, the people in the car got down and started running. They were chased and caught with the help of the police force.”

The arrested youths have been identified as Ravikant Kumar alias Shakti, a resident of village Gidhaur, Heth Tola of Gidhaur police station area of Chatra district, and Rahul Kumar, son of Arun Kumar Mehta, is a resident of near Kallu Chowk Masjid of Lohsinghana police station area of Hazaribagh.

One mobile and two packets of brown sugar have been recovered from the arrested Ravikant Kumar alias Shakti and two mobiles from Rahul Kumar. Another mobile was found in the car. The police demanded valid documents from both the youths which they could not produce. Thereafter, the illegal narcotics were confiscated.

An FIR has been registered under section 21(b)(c), 22(b)(c) NDPS Act of IPC under Katakamsandi (Pelawal) police station case no-28/22.  Both the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
