Ranchi, June 30: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has provided essential guidelines to the district administration and district health authorities regarding enhanced surveillance and case management of SARS-CoV-2 variants.

MoHFW has provided a total of 15 directions to prevent any further spread of Covid-19 infection in Jharkhand. Some of the key points are as follows:

  • To ensure enhanced focus on early detection, isolation, testing, and timely clinical management of suspected and confirmed cases, while strengthening efforts to detect and contain outbreaks of new SARS-CoV-2 variants. Focussed and strategic testing must be taken up in the districts.
  • Districts must also monitor average daily Testing Per Million(TPM) as well as the are of RT-PCR in total tests conducted.
  • The five-fold strategy, i¢ Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate and Covid Appropriate Behaviour should be followed diligently and enforcement is monitored regularly.
  • Districts should assess the readiness of hopes hospitals in terms of O2 sO2-supporters, function tionality of PSA plants, function tionality of oxygen pipepipelinesntilators, availability of emergency medicine, availability and functionality of oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators.
  • Districts must also enhance monitoring of Influenzas like Illness (ILI) and SARI cases in all health facilities including Medical Colleges regularly for detecting early warning signals of the spread of infection.

“The State is also experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases in the past few weeks, especially in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Deoghar and East Singhbhum districts. The weekly trajectory from June 3 to 9 shows a total of 38 new cases reported with a positivity rate of 0.10 %, in the week from June 10-16 a total of 76 new cases were reported with a positivity rate of 0.20 % and in the past week from June 17 to 23, a total of 146 new cases were reported with a positivity rate of 0.47 %, which is an area of concern,” the report stated.

MoHFW added that all actions are required for preventing further surges in cases. The situation at the district and sub-district levels must be closely monitored and any rise in infections must be immediately addressed and effectively contained.

“The need of the hour is to focus on prompt and targeted action to flatten the curve of the ongoing pandemic,” the report concluded.
