New Delhi, July 12: Before the presidential elections and the monsoon session of Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is said to have left for another foreign vacation, this time for a personal visit to Europe. He is scheduled to return on Sunday.

Rahul Gandhi’s frequent trips abroad, often during crucial political moments, have raised concerns about his commitment to assuming a leadership position, particularly given the Congress’s recent string of defeats. The party has only just managed to stop defections in Goa at the time of this visit.

Congress did not immediately respond to requests for remarks. Rahul Gandhi is not expected to attend the party’s meeting on Thursday over its own upcoming presidential elections.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi resigned from his position as Congress president after the party’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, and Sonia Gandhi is now in that position. It is unclear at this time whether Rahul Gandhi will run for the position.

The party gathering on Thursday will also discuss preparations for the October 2 ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ or ‘Unite India Campaign.’ Rahul Gandhi’s absence from the meeting is certain to increase rumours regarding the leadership issue.
