Ramgarh, July 16: The Bharat Bandh called by many business organisations had a significant influence on the Ramgarh Bazar Committee on Saturday.

Various business organizations across the country had called for Bharat Bandh today in protest against the 5% GST on various food products including unbranded pre-packaged and pre-labelled flour, pulses, curd, and jaggery to be levied from July 18.

In view of this, all the shops of the market committee were completely closed. Businesses worth crores were affected due to this.

“Imposing GST at the rate of 5% on non-branded food items would be an act of feathering inflation. The central government should reconsider its decision,” said traders Amit Sahu and Vinay Agarwal.

The businessmen, showing their solidarity, demanded the central government withdraw GST at the earliest on non-branded items.

President Amit Sahu said, “If this GST is levied on non-branded food items at the rate of 5%, inflation will reach the peak and the general public is suffering from such inflation and further it will give wings to inflation due to the imposition of GST.”

Sahu has urged the central government to withdraw the GST imposed on non-branded food items at the earliest so that the general public can breathe a sigh of relief from inflation.

President of Rice Mills Association Vinay Agarwal said that this imposition of GST at the rate of 5% will have a huge impact on thousands of small-scale industries in the coming days.

“Small scale industry operators will have to face more difficulties in future. That is why the central government should stop this increased GST as soon as possible with immediate effect and further strategy should be made after brainstorming with the businessmen,” he said.

Jaiprakash Agrawal, Shyam Prasad, Ganesh Saw, Jitendra Agarwal, Amit Jain, Lala Prasad, Prakash Gupta, Sajjan Berlia, including many businessmen and others were present during the protest.
