New Delhi, July 16: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, stated on Saturday that offering free healthcare and education to citizens does not constitute giving “revdi.”

The AAP leader responded after Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that efforts were being made to instil the practise of gathering votes by giving out “free revdi” around the nation.

Kejariwal said, “Allegations are being levelled against me but I want to ask what my mistake is. There are 18 lakh students studying in Delhi govt schools. We are providing them with free, quality education. Am I committing a crime by giving them free, good education? This should have been done in 1947 and 1950. We are setting up the foundation of the country, this is not giving out free revdis,” Kejriwal said.

“We provide free and quality medical care in government hospitals of Delhi. Is this giving revdi?” the AAP chief said.

https://t.co/sHfiBvltU0

“Those who abuse me have spent thousands of crores on buying airplanes and private jets for themselves. Kejriwal doesn’t buy airplanes for himself. Despite making so many things in Delhi free, our budget is still running in profit. I’m not saying this; the latest CAG report says this”, Kejriwal said.

“Delhi is the only city where treatment of two crore people is being done free of cost. The entire cost of treatment is borne by the government,” he said.

“I have studied engineering and my degree is not fake. If I have ended corruption and provided facilities to people, what wrong have I done?” CM Kejriwal asked.

The Delhi CM said, “I will tell you what free revdi is. There is a big company that took loans from various banks. Kha gaye wo loan. Bank diwaliya ho gaye. That company gave one political party donation of a few crores and no action was taken by the government against this company. This is free revdi. When you waive loans of thousands of crores by your friends, that is free revdi.”

Earlier in the day while inaugurating the Bundelkhand Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun, PM Modi warned against the “revdi culture” in which candidates would provide free gifts in exchange for votes. According to PM Modi, this might be extremely harmful for the nation’s progress.

“This Revdi culture poses a serious threat to the nation’s progress. You will never get new expressways, airports, or military routes built for you by people with Revdi culture. Together, we must dispel this style of thinking and eradicate Revdi culture from national politics,” the prime minister stated during event.
