13 hockey day-boarding centres in Khunti to be functional soon

Ranchi, July 19: Efforts are on to promote sports in the Khunti district. The district administration has put special focus on sports after the new sports officer, Praveen Kumar, took over. Work is being done to make all the day boarding centres functional in the district.

Praveen Kumar said that out of the 13-day boarding centres operating in the district, the approval of three, namely, Charid of Murhu, Maranghada of Khunti, and coach of SS Plus Two High School Rania has not yet been received. The sports officer said that soon all the day-boarding centres will be inspected.

He said that the process of opening a few more new day-boarding centres is in progress. Along with this, preparations are also being made to open day-boarding and residential centres for football. Efforts are also being made to open an archery centre.

Notably, the work of constructing a new Astroturf field at the Birsa College campus in Khunti is on. The repair work of SS Plus Two High School Astroturf Stadium is in the final stages.

Moreover, the District Sports Officer informed us that a plan is being made to build a sports complex in Khunti. The search for land for this is on. There is a possibility that a sports complex may be opened on the Knowledge City campus. There is a plan to make chat fields in all six blocks of the district. About this, the officers of the blocks have been instructed to identify the land.
