Dhanbad Aug 6: The team of Samarth Pandey and Priyansh Panchal from DBMS English School, Jamshedpur emerged as the winner of the Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge 2022 organized by IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad.
The first runner-up prize went to the three-member team of Harsh Ranjan, Yuvraj Harsh and Sameer Kumar of SDSM School for Excellence, Jamshedpur while Kumar Divyansh of DAV Public School TTPS Lalpania (Bokaro) bagged the second runner up prize.
DAV Public School CCL Giridih team consisting of Roushan Raj, Yash Anand, Vipul Ambastha and Prince Raj won the fourth position and Delhi Public School Dhanbad’s team of Angel Priya, Akshita Suman, and Devanshish bagged the fifth position in the competition.
The award ceremony was held on Saturday at Naresh Vashisth Centre for Tinkering and Innovation (NVCTI) at IIT ISM where Sanjay Kumar Singh, director (technical), of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) was the chief guest and gave away the prizes along with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad director Rajiv Shekhar to the winners.
Coordinator of the event Prof Ajit Kumar said 260 students of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Chaibasa and other districts participated in the challenge and put up their innovation idea. He further said that the champion DBMS English School team developed a product called ‘-Smart Vision’, which is a goggle equipped with sensors to help blind people walk freely without external help.
“The first runner-up team SDSM School for Excellence, Jamshedpur developed an automated sniper gun which is capable of identifying enemy at 360° and shooting it down. This has a great application in the defence sector,” he added.
“The second runner-up team SDSM School for Excellence, Jamshedpur developed a smart wheelchair equipped with sensors. It is a device which takes the elderly based on their posture and also protects them from falling at obstacles. It will have great application in the health sector,” said Prof Kumar.
