New Delhi, Sept 12: In order to take down gangs and crime syndicates, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 60 locations across India on Monday. The 60 locations include localities in Delhi, National Capital Region, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Following the filing of two FIRs by the Delhi Police Special Cell under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against 10 members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Bambiha gang, and the Neeraj Bawana gang, the NIA has launched an investigation.

This occurs a day after Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav claimed that there is a strong connection between the gangsters detained in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case and terrorist organisations. He had claimed that this connection was being used by Pakistani terror organizations.

The Special Cell was informed, according to the FIR, that Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar, Vikram Brar, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sandeep, Sachin Thapan, and Anmol Bishnoi are running gangs out of several prisons both domestically and overseas in Canada, Pakistan, and Dubai.

The FIR also claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi was close to the suspected Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda. Members of the Bambiha gang, which competes with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were mentioned in another FIR filed under the UAPA. These include Neeraj Bawana, who is currently in Tihar jail, Lucky Patial, who is operating out of Armenia, Kaushal Chaudhary, who is incarcerated in Haryana, and Neeraj Patial.
