“We demand that Tibet be freed and Government of India supports us with this demand. China needs to be stopped. Mass collection of DNA, killings must be halted,” one of the protestors said.

More than 159 Tibetans have set themselves on fire since 2009, according to Phayul, which is significant as a form of protest against the Chinese occupation of Tibet.

In 1950, Chinese forces occupied Tibet and later seized it. During the 1959 Tibetan uprising, Tibetan civilians and Chinese troops engaged in violent combat.
