Rajasthan Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma passes away at 77

New Delhi, Oct 9: Bhanwar Lal Sharma, a prominent Rajasthani Congress leader, passed away on Sunday in Jaipur at the age of 77. On Saturday, he was brought to SMS Hospital after he reported feeling uneasy.

His body has been transported to his Hanuman Nagar home. For people to pay their respects, it will be kept in the Vidyadhar Nagar Brahmin Mahasabha structure. On Monday in the late afternoon, Sardarshahar will host the final ceremonies.

Sharma began his political career at the age of 17. He was appointed sarpanch of the Jaitsisar Gram Panchayat in 1962. He held the position of Sarpanch until 1982. He was chosen to lead the Sardarshahar Panchayat Samiti in 1982. In 1985, Sharma ran for his first Rajasthan assembly seat with the Lok Dal and later was elected as an MLA. The Janata Dal party was thereafter joined by him. In 1990, he was successful in winning the election as an MLA a second time.W

He was appointed the Minister of Rajasthan’s Indira Gandhi Canal Project. In 1996, he triumphed in the by-elections for the Rajasthan Assembly. During the elections in 1998, 2003, 2013, and 2018, he was elected as an MLA on Congress tickets.
