Mumbai, Oct 9: After being prohibited by the Electoral Commission from using the party name and election symbol, the Shiv Sena group headed by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has begun looking at alternatives for new symbols in place of Bow and arrow.
The Uddhav Thackeray party is looking at choices including Trishul, Rising Sun, and Mashaal.
Similar names, which have been suggested by members of the party, are Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray, Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray, and Shiv Sena Prabodhan Thackeray.
In the next Andheri East Assembly byelection, the poll commission has prohibited the Thackeray and Eknath Shinde factions from using the party name and election symbol. Shiv Sena leaders will meet on Sunday at 7 p.m. to discuss the finalisation of the party’s symbol.
Before the Bow and Arrow emblem was filed on October 1, 1989, Sena has previously used symbols such as a coconut tree, railroad engine, sword and shield, mashaal, and a cup and saucer.
