Hazaribag, Oct 18: 5-year-old Mohammad Umar, who went missing from his village Sultana in Katkamdag block, was found dead today with his body recovered from a pond. Angry villagers blocked the Hazaribag-Chatra road for hours, making officials promise compensation and an investigation of this case which resulted in the end of the jam.

Sources said Umar, son of Mohammad Guljar, went missing on October 15 in the morning. Guljar immediately informed the Katkamdag police but no action was taken in this regard.

Today, villagers spotted the dead body of the child which was fished out by them. This angered the villagers who started raising slogans against the police and blocked the busiest stretch of the road. Katkamdag police station officer-in-charge Dhananjay Kumar Prajapati reached the spot but faced the anger of villagers.

Katkamdag Circle Officer Shashi Bhushan Singh reached there and promised action if the murder theory gets confirmed in the autopsy report. He also promised compensation to the family after which jam was called off after three hours.
