Hazaribag, Oct.22: 40-year-old Dularchand Mahto, a resident of Bandkharo village in Vishnugarh block of Hazaribag district who was working for L&T company in Malaysia died on October 16. His body is still in Malaysia so his family requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren to help them bring it back for the funeral.

Taking swift action, CM Soren through a late-night tweet requested the union external affairs minister for help in this case.

The deceased’s wife Yashoda Devi said that the information was sent to them that her husband died of a brain hemorrhage. According to the information, he was admitted to the hospital but he died soon. “I know he died of negligence but now I want the chief minister’s help in bringing back his dead body,” said Mahto’s wife. She charged the company for not cooperating in this case.

“He left us and we don’t know the actual reason as to how he died. Nobody will tell us this fact but at least he deserves last rites at his home,” she added with tears rolling down her cheeks.

A social worker Sikandar Ali who works for migratory workers said this is not the first incident in which a labourer has died abroad. “Many people going to foreign countries to work as labourers are ill-treated there and are forced to work for long hours in a day which makes them sick,” he said.
