Ranchi, Nov.2: BJP legislator party chief Babulal Marandi said that police in Jharkhand are not safe. He made the claim by presenting an example of last Tuesday night’s attack on two police sub-inspectors in Bariatu, Ranchi through a tweet in the morning.

“Another misadventure of criminals in Ranchi! The criminals attacked a patrolling party that went to catch the accused of mobile robbery, Saddam and Irshad, injuring two policemen. A few days ago , there was an attack on the police in Dhurva too. Even the police itself is not safe in Jharkhand…Think how safe the public is,” Marandi tweeted.

When Lagatar24.com contacted SP (city), Anshuman Kumar, for his comment on the matter, he just said “Probe is on.”

A police official supported Marandi saying SI’s were attacked when they had gone to catch criminals in Bariatu hillock under the Bariatu police station area.

“Two sub-inspectors sustained injuries in the attack. This incident happened late on Monday night. Criminals injured the police by hitting them with the keys of the bike and snatched the mobiles of both the sub-inspectors,” the police official said.

“Police officials had swung into action after a section of students informed them that three criminals snatched their mobile at a weapon point near Bariatu mountain. The police got information that the criminals involved in the robbery were sitting near the tamarind tree located near the Bariatu mountain. To nab the accused, two sub-inspectors of Bariatu police station, Avinash Kumar and Hemant Bhokta reached near Bariatu hill,” the police official added.

He added that as soon as the police reached the criminals, a criminal took out the key of the bike kept in his pocket and attacked the sub-inspector’s head. After the attack, both the criminals fled from there. After a while, another team from Bariatu police station reached the spot, but before that both the criminals escaped by taking advantage of the hill. Both the sub-inspectors, who were injured in the attack of criminals, have suffered minor head injuries.
