New Delhi, Nov 21: A goods train derailed at the Korei railway station in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Monday. At least two people were killed and several more suffered serious injuries, according to railroad officials.
According to representatives of East Coast Railway (ECoR), the incident happened at about 6.45 in the morning while some people were waiting at the platform for a passenger train.
According to them, eight waggons from goods train travelling from Dongoaposi to Chhatrapur derailed and slammed onto the platform and waiting area, inflicting the casualties.

According to them, more people may end up dying because several of the victims suffered significant injuries, and the catastrophe also caused damage to the station’s structure.
It is still unknown what caused the derailment. According to the officials, both lines have been blocked due to the accident, which has had a partial impact on train service. A medical team and an accident relief train have been dispatched by ECoR to the area.
Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister, posted a message on Twitter expressing his sorrow over the incident’s fatalities and announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each to the next of kin of the victims of the Korai goods train derailment.
