Dhanbad, Dec 13: A three-member team of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), Government of India, led by vice-president Arun Haldar arrived in Dhanbad on Tuesday and visited Narayan Dhowra village under Madhuban police station, around 35 km away from district headquarters where houses of Scheduled Caste families were burnt and people were beaten last month.

After visiting the village, NCSC vice-president Arun Haldar said that the team probed the incident spot and met over 10 victim-families. The team also took a detailed report of the incident from the tortured families.

“The Commission has now directed the concerned authorities of the district to arrest all accused involved in the incident and pay the compensation to victim families as per guidelines immediately,” said Haldar.

NCSC director Sanjay Kumar Singh and investigation officer Sunil Kumar Singh were the other members of the team that probed the incident.

The team also directed the concerned authorities of the district administration to send the Action Taken Report (ATR) in 72 hours to the Commission in Delhi so that further action could be initiated.

The vice-president said that the Commission received information that houses of Scheduled Castes families were burnt and their shops were sabotaged by people. Even some of them were beaten up in the violence on November 7, 2022. So, the commission has sent a team to probe the incident.

As per the allegation, on November 7, 2022, villagers of Kharkhari- Sinidih attacked Narayan Dhowra village and burnt over a dozen houses and four shops of the residents. They also beat up the families belonging to Scheduled Castes.

The clash was reportedly triggered after villagers of Narayan Dhowra protested the illegal coal transportation on bikes through the village.
