Ranchi, Dec 15: Ranchi University is planning to print 10 percent extra question papers to solve the issue of question papers falling short during examinations. RU VC Ajit Kumar Sinha, while talking to Lagatar24 correspondent said this when questioned about the questions being written on boards during examinations.
Notably, during an Urdu examination earlier, there were certain parts of the question paper missing, after which, examiners had to write the missing questions on boards for students. However, this is not just one example of a shortage of question papers as this has been a regular issue for the past several years.
When asked about the duration before the exam by which admit cards are provided, and when the distribution is stopped, both the examination controller and the VC said, “We stop the distribution 5-7 days before the examination is set to begin. However, there are several instances, wherein students come to us with problems or reasons for not filling admit cards on time, or after resolving the issues for which their admit cards were stopped. Here, we cannot stop students if they have genuine reasons, as a result of which, they may sometimes get their admit cards even on the day of the commencement of the examinations. This in turn affects the number of question papers that will be available for students.”
Furthermore, when questioned about the issue of examination controllers, the VC said, “For now, we have followed the stay order by the High Court, as a result of which, Prof Ashish Kumar Jha will remain examination controller till further orders.”
When asked about the reason behind Jha being removed as EC, the VC claimed that it was done under the orders of the Chancellor and Governor Ramesh Bais, however, because the High Court has ordered a stay, the university has followed their instructions.
Meanwhile, sources have claimed that the step was taken because of the behaviour of the examination controller towards the students. Several students have claimed that they have had to wait for hours before the controller decided to meet them if not days.
“In such a situation, students coming from Gumla and Bedo have had to face problems sometimes. There have been instances where my friends came here to see the controller, but couldn’t meet him and had to wait the next day,” said a student from Bedo on the condition of not being named.
