Dhanbad, Dec 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sandip Singh on Friday directed that new ultrasound clinics will be registered under the Clinical Establishment Act (CEA) from the new year and conduct regular inspections of form ‘F’ of diagnostic centres.

The Dhanbad administration mandated registration of ultrasound clinics under the Clinical Establishment Act mandatory in the district from the new year to check for misuse.

The District Consultative Committee held a review meeting for the PC-PNDT Act at the collectorate on Friday afternoon.

As per Dhanbad’s last census (2011) sex ratio, there are only 918 girls child for every 1000 boys.
Taking serious note of the sex ratio imbalances in the district, Dhanbad DC directed that from the new year, the licence to new ultrasound clinics /diagnostic centres would be allotted only after the recommendation of the District Consultant Committee.

At the same time, Dhanbad DC also sought to raise awareness against gender choice.

During the meeting, the consultative committee also reviewed the services provided by the doctors in ultrasound clinics and diagnostic centres, the registration of new detection centres and their renewal.

Dr Alok Vishwakarma, Civil Surgeon (CS), said, “In the name of the upgradation of ultrasound centres, the operator installs a new machine on an old registration number to cover irregularities. He added that such irregularities should be monitored and the system of separate registration for new ultrasound machines should be made mandatory.

Mr Kumar Bandhu Kachhap, Executive Magistrate of Sadar Hospital, Dr Rajkumar Singh, Nodal Officer, Medical college along with other members of the committee also attended the meeting.
