Hazaribag police seize 19 kg opium, cash from village, arrest woman

Hazaribag, Jan 2: A team led by CCR DSP Arif Ekram raided a village in Keredari recovering 19.4 kilograms of opium and Rs 13lakh cash from a house. 

A woman Rudni Devi was arrested while police are searching for others involved. Announcing this big success this morning, superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chauthe said he got a tipoff about this consignment of raid following which he constituted a team which got this big success in the new year. 

Giving information, Chauthe said the raid was carried out in Gholtavir tola under the Keredari police station of the district. 

He said the house of one Kameshwar Saw was searched and around 19.5-kilogram opium was found in a 30-litre bucket in the house. When an iron box was opened by the police team, they found Rs 13 lakh in a bag. 

Chauthe said Kameshwar’s wife Rudni was arrested from there. 

“Other than Kameshwar, we are searching for one Gyani Saw,” he added. 

Other than Ekram, the team comprises Barkagaon circle inspector Neeraj Kumar and the officer-in-charge of Keredari police station, Sadhanchandra Gorai.
