Hazaribag, Jan.2: Members of Particularly Vulnerbale Tribal Group (PVTG) Birhor today complained to the police about a man of the minority community for feeding them beef, triggering anger in the area. The incident took place in Birhor tola of Bariyatha panchayat in Barhi block situated 55kms away from the district headquarter.
One of them Manoj Birhor dared to complain against this misdeed of Mohammad Khalil of the area. He first informed Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Gurudev Gupta and local mukhiya Motilal Choudhary. In his complaint to police, he said, on Friday, Khalil came to their tola and said he will arrange liquor and food for them. A resident of Lakhna village under Dulmaha panchayat, Khalil was also spotted with a cow in the afternoon. Later in the night, he threw a party attended by two dozen Birhors.Manoj said when they understood that Khalil had given them beef to eat, they all protested. But he threatened all to eat quietly otherwise get ready for the consequences. On a complaint of Manoj given today, a team of Barhi police led by inspector Lalit Kumar reached there and probed the case beside taking statements of the victims. When Manoj and other Birhors requested the police to dig the floor of the house of one Rajesh Birhor, they found skin, bone and other parts of a cow.
Manoj said Khalil is selling liquor and he played with their sentiments and religion by making them eat beef. He said they all want a strict action against him. Lalit assured them of action in this case.
Gupta said they will felicitate Manoj for showing courage and bringing this matter into their knowledge. He even informed the police which is a big thing, he added. Gupta said they want action against Khalil and his men immediately.
According to police, Khalil has been arrested.
